Climate of Sardinia

Have you booked your holiday to Sardinia? When packing your suitcases, you naturally want to know what kind of weather to expect. Should you bring shorts, or would it be better to pack your wool sweater? At Tritt, we understand that you want to be well prepared for your trip. That is why we are happy to tell you more about the climate on this beautiful island.

Subtropical climate

Besides its culture, delicious food, and beautiful sights, Sardinia is also popular for its pleasant weather. The subtropical climate ensures warm summers with little rain, and the island is a great place to be during the autumn and even the winter months. The sea water temperature ranges from around 20 to 25 degrees Celsius between May and September. So, it is perfect for a lovely swim!

The best travel time

The best months to visit Sardinia are May, June, July, and September. You will enjoy an average temperature of 26 degrees. August is the warmest month on the island. Also, keep in mind that it can be busier during this month: the Italians are on holiday then as well. Sardinia is a very popular holiday destination for them too.

In the tables below, you can easily read the monthly temperature in Sardinia and the average sea temperature (based on Alghero, but this is fairly average). Naturally, there are differences by region: the weather in the mountainous interior can differ from, for example, the charming coastal towns. Higher-lying areas in Sardinia, such as Punta la Marmora, can be cooler.
