Not always. In many coastal towns, you can reach everything on foot or by bike: shops, restaurants, the beach, and the promenade. However, if you want to explore multiple beaches or take trips to inland villages, a car is certainly handy. Moreover, many holiday homes are located in the hills; at these types of locations, a car is actually indispensable for getting around comfortably.
In many coastal towns, dogs are welcome on certain sections of the beach, especially outside the high season. Some regions even have special dog beaches where you can swim together. It is always clearly indicated at our accommodations whether pets are allowed.
From May through September, you are perfectly situated for sun, sea, and long days outdoors. June and September are especially lovely: warm, but quieter than the high season. During those months, the sea often has exactly that delightful temperature that makes you want to float endlessly.
