Tip: 13-day autumn road trip

The Italian seasonal cuisine: Wine & Olive Oil, Mushrooms & Truffles.

With this route, we let you enjoy Italian seasonal cuisine. Ideal for lovers of Italian food, but certainly also highly recommended for art and culture enthusiasts. You will travel to the most beautiful autumn spots in Northern Italy, Tuscany, and Le Marche, including, of course, the various wine regions. But you will also get to know the art cities and important historical villages. In Italy, every season brings different dishes to the table with typical ingredients. Autumn is all about the olive harvest, grapes and new wines (vino novello), pumpkin, mushrooms, truffles, and chestnuts.

The wines of Franciacorte

Agriturismo Villa Gradoni is situated near Lake Iseo in the Franciacorta wine region. The apartments are scattered across historic houses in a typical borgo, surrounded by vineyards. In the evening, you can dine at the accompanying restaurant, which features local dishes on the menu, accompanied, of course, by wines from the Villa Franciacorta estate! This agriturismo also organizes tours of the wineries and wine tastings.

Fresh seasonal daily menu

The next destination on this tour is Tuscany. Tuscany is best known for its Tuscan cuisine. Dishes are simple, yet fresh and without too much fuss. Besides the somewhat simpler dishes like pappa al pomodoro and ribollita, there are also the more luxurious ones such as tagliatelle with wild boar and Bistecca alla Fiorentina. Tuscan cuisine offers something for everyone.

San Miniato

On your way to the next destination, you pass through San Miniato. In November, the town of San Miniato celebrates. For no fewer than three consecutive weekends, the white truffle takes center stage during the Mostra Mercato del Tartufo Bianco. White truffles and products made with white truffles, such as salami, pecorino, olive oil, grappa, and wine, tantalize the taste buds.

Hot off the press

Agriturismo Borgo San Lorenzo was originally a wine estate that was relaunched in 1980 with the aim of producing high-quality wine and olive oil. This mission has succeeded, and the products have since won various awards. From September onwards, bunches of ripe grapes hang in the last rays of the summer sun, waiting to be picked. You will stay here in style at a welcoming wine estate. A unique experience for wine lovers!

The versatility of Le Marche

Driving through a landscape of rolling hills, vineyards, and scattered olive groves, you reach Agriturismo Valle del MetauroThis peacefully situated holiday address can be found in the north of Le Marche, 20 km from the coast. There are a total of 12 apartments, and with a swimming pool, restaurant, and some playground equipment for the kids, you will find everything you need here for a complete holiday!

Wine, truffles and Slow Food in Piedmont

The final accommodation on this tour is located in Piedmont. In Italy, Piedmont is known as 'il paradiso dei buongustai' – 'the paradise for gourmets'. When you taste the chocolate from Turin, the famous wines such as Barolo, Barbera, and Barbaresco, or the fragrant truffles from Alba and the surrounding area, you will understand why the region deserves this name!
