This spacious and comfortable holiday villa is located in the southwestern part of Sardinia, 1.5 kilometers from Porto Pino, which gets its name from the wide surrounding pine forest. The area is known for the beautiful bay with 4 kilometers of sandy beaches, white dunes and a clear blue sea. At the end of the bay there is a beach which is part of a military zone, therefore this beach is only accessible in summer. In this region of Sardinia there are also salt flats where you can find the pink flamingos!
Sant’Antioco town and its lagoon
Sant'Antioco, which is the name of both the island and the town, is a popular seaside area with stunning sea views, beautiful beaches and coves. It is easily accessible by car, from Carbonia it takes about 20 minutes via a bridge connecting the island with Sardinia. The town of Sant’Antioco immediately meets you as soon as you leave the bridge! Another must-see place on the island is Calasetta, from where you can take the boat to Isola San Pietro. Unfortunately, the northern coast of the island is not very suitable for swimming and sunbathing, but it does provide picturesque landscapes. The area is mainly dedicated to agriculture and has several vineyards where DOC Sardinian wines are produced. The lagoon is close to the town of Sant'Antioco and here is possible to observe, from short distance, pink flamingos, herons and other water birds in their natural habitat.
The caves of Su Mannau
The caves of Su Mannau, among the oldest caves in the world, are near the town of Fluminimaggiore. The part that can be be visited (accompanied by a guide) covers about 500m and is the first part of the cave, also called the Archaeological Chamber. In earlier times this was used as an underground temple dedicated to the cult of water. There are also special speleology tours available upon request.
Porto Pino (shops, supermarket) 1.5 km, Sant 'Anna Aresi 7 km, Sant'Antioco 30 km, Carloforte 40 km, Cagliari (capital, airport) 80 km.
