What is the best time to go to Sardinia?
Have you booked your holiday to Sardinia? When packing your suitcases, you naturally want to know what the weather to expect. Do you have to bring shorts or you may need a wool sweater? At Tritt we understand that you want to be well prepared for your trip. That is why we would like to tell you more about the climate on this beautiful island.
Subtropical climate
Sardinia is, in addition to the culture, good food and the most beautiful sights, also popular for the good weather. The subtropical climate provides warm summers with little to no rain. The climate is quite warm, when compared to the northern/central European countries, even in the autumn and winter months. The temperature of the seawater is around 20 to 25 degrees between the months of May to September. So, you can swim from May to end of September!
The best time to travel
The best months to go to Sardinia are May, June, July and September. You then enjoy an average temperature of 26 degrees. August and July are the hottest months on the island. Also keep in mind that Sardinia gets quite busy during August: the Italians also usually choose this month for their summer holidays, and Sardinia is one of the most popular holiday destinations for them.
In the tables below you can easily read what the temperature is per month in Sardinia and the average sea temperature (based on Alghero, but this is average). Of course, there is a difference per area: in the mountainous interior the weather can differ with, for example, the cosy coastal towns. The higher places in Sardinia, such as the Gennargentu and Montiferru mountains, can be cooler.
