An agriturismo is a farm stay: a typical Italian farm but organized to receive guests for overnight stays and/or for a typical meal in the restaurant. During the 80’s, as the southern Italian economy changed, more and more farmers were forced to leave their lands and look for work in the cities. This was a solution to save the Italian farmhouses that were not able to stay in business. Most of the small Sardinian family-run farms were converted into agriturismo and in this way they can continue to exist as sustainable and authentic family businesses that offer to the travellers the opportunity to experience the authentic Italian culture.

An agriturismo is primarly a real working farm that was adapted to offer various types of accommodation like rooms, apartments, detached holiday homes and sometimes holiday villas. Many of those in Sardinia can offer combinations of these types of accommodations. The accommodations in our selection can be found both inland or in the Sardinian coast. One of our best agriturismo, Agriresidence Mamuntanas ideally located just 5km from Alghero on the beautiful Sardinian coast, offers studios and two-rooms apartments. In the proximity of the Agriresidence Mamuntanas, in the province of Sassari, you can visit one of the famous Sardinian Nuraghe villages or some natural landmarks like the caves “Grotte di Nettuno” or the regional natural park of Porto Conte.
In addition to offering accommodations, the owners of the Agriresidence Mamuntanas are busy with the daily work at the 14-hectare horticultural business where various types of vegetables are grown. The visitors can taste these vegetables, as they are used to prepare the delicious traditional Sardinian dishes offered at the restaurant.
