Tritts Top 5: Shopping in Sardinia

Like in the mainland Italy, in Sardinia there are plenty of boutique and authentic shops and typical Sardinian markets where shopping enthusiasts can indulge themselves during their holidays. Check our shopping guide and discover our picks for the top 5 shopping hotspots in Sardinia.

5: Shopping in Sassari - The Piazza D'Italia

At the number 5 of our list: the old city center of Sassari. Sassari is a lively student city in the northwest of Sardinia. In the center of the city, there is Piazza D'Italia, which is and amazing place to spend an afternoon shopping. From there you can visit the shopping streets of the city center: Largo Cavallotti, Via Luzzati, Piazza Azuni and the Corso Vittorio Emanuele where you will find artisans' shops where you can buy local handicraft. In addition to the well-known fashion chains and boutiques, the center of Sassari is full of other attractions. During your afternoon of shopping, visit the San Nicola Cathedral, the Archaeological Museum, or the Rosello Fountain. These sights, just like the cozy terraces, restaurants, and shops, are all located within the old city walls and within walking distance of the Piazza D'Italia.

Tritt's Tip: Stay at  Villa Santa Barbara  .

4: Olbia - The Corso Umberto

For the number 4 of our top 5 shopping places in Sardinia we chose the Corso Umberto in  Olbia . If during your holiday in Sardinia you decide to visit Olbia, you definitely don't want to miss the Corso Umberto. Corso Umberto is Olbia's main street, that from the old town will take you to the harbour. Along the way you will come across many restaurants, boutiques, and bars.

Tritt's tip: Stay in the nearby touristic village of San Teodoro at  I suledda Resort   .

3: Oristano and its boutiques

Oristano is a hidden shopping paradise in Sardinia. Here you will find almost exclusively small, independent Italian-style boutiques. That is why Oristano is one of our favorite shopping locations in Sardinia. Local handicraft, and high-quality artisanal products can be found in abundance here. The historic center of Oristano is not very large, so you can easily walk from one place to another. End your day of shopping in Oristano with a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants on the boulevard. Please note, shops are closed on Sundays, and most of them also close daily at lunchtime.

Tritt's tip: Combine a day of shopping in Oristano with a visit to the Sinis peninsula.

2: Cagliari - Via Roma & the Mercato di San Benedetto

The Sardinian capital Cagliari is at number 2 of our top 5 list. In the center of Cagliari you will find the large shopping area around Via Roma, Via Dante and Via Manno. Via Roma is the main street that runs parallel to the harbour and here you will find, among other things, the luxury department store La Rinascente. You will find various well-known fashion chains and small authentic boutiques around Via Dante and Via Manno, just like on Via Roma. Cagliari is a port city and that is why we recommend that you visit the Mercato di San Benedetto during a day of shopping. This covered fresh market is located just outside the center. Here you will find fresh fish, seasonal vegetables, cold cuts and other local products and delicacies all day long.

Tritt's tip: Enjoy your holiday in Cagliari staying at the charming B&B Carlo Felice

1: Porto Cervo: the jet set’s exclusive shopping spot

If you like luxury brands and exclusive shops, the number one can only be Porto Cervo! Porto Cervo is the main destination of the exclusive Costa Smeralda. Walking through narrow streets overlooking the beautiful coast, you will notice that Porto Cervo is a first-class gem. In recent years, Porto Cervo has grown into an exclusive holiday resort with the associated yacht marina and well-known luxury brands' shops. Porto Cervo is a real shopping paradise for the fashion and luxury lovers: Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Versace, but also Cartier, Rolex, Patek Philippe. These are just a few of the many international luxury brands that you will find in Porto Cervo. The atmosphere, the beautiful surroundings, and the luxury that Porto Cervo exudes has ensured that the town is known worldwide as a true jet set resort.
